The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor said on Saturday that Israel destroyed approximately 400 homes in the Zeitoun neighborhood, east of Gaza City, over the course of six days, by bombing them with booby-trapped robots and shelling them with warplanes.
The Observatory added in a statement that “the Israeli occupation forces have been razing the Zeitoun neighborhood to the ground for six days,” noting that they “destroyed approximately 400 homes by bombing them with booby-trapped robots and shelling them with warplanes, as part of a large-scale military attack.”
It explained that “the military attack on the Zeitoun neighborhood, which began on August 11, comes within the framework of a declared plan by Israel to impose its complete and illegal control over Gaza City and displace its residents, along with those displaced from the northern Gaza Strip, estimated at around one million people, to isolated and limited areas in the southern Gaza Strip.”
He pointed out that “the occupation forces are using quadcopter drones to besiege residential areas in the Zeitoun neighborhood and force residents to leave at gunpoint, while their military vehicles advance under heavy fire cover and position themselves behind Highway 8 and near the Dawla Intersection, the Barasi Land, and Aliyin.” The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor stated that this “has forced more than 90,000 residents of the neighborhood to flee under intense bombardment.”
