The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza denounced on Monday, what it described as the “heinous crime” committed by the Israeli occupation army, through its direct targeting of the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, stressing that the hospital is “the only public health facility operating in the southern Gaza Strip.” The ministry said, in an urgent press release, that targeting the hospital and killing the health and press crews and civil defense personnel “comes in the context of the systematic destruction of the health system and the continuation of the genocide, and a message of challenge to the whole world and to all the values of humanity and justice.” She indicated that the initial toll of the attack amounted to 20 medical staff, patients, journalists and civil defense personnel, in addition to dozens of injuries. The bombing also caused panic and chaos, disrupting the operations department and depriving the sick and wounded of their right to treatment. The ministry issued a distress call to the international community and all concerned institutions “to protect the rest of the health services in Gaza,” calling for immediate and urgent action to ensure the protection of humanitarian crews. And she warned that “the international silence and the failure to take real measures to curb the occupation and stop its crimes constitutes an actual partnership and a declaration of the continuation of this crime.”
