Gaza Interior Ministry: Martyrs in clashes with armed militias

A leading source in the Ministry of Interior in Gaza reported clashes with “armed militias affiliated with the occupation,” resulting in deaths and injuries.
The source added, in an interview with Al Jazeera satellite channel on Sunday, that “militia members” killed displaced persons as they were returning from the southern Gaza Strip to Gaza City.
He indicated that security forces are besieging militia members inside Gaza City and are working with them to arrest them. He added that they are determined to impose order and hold accountable those involved in the killing.
The Hebrew newspaper Israel Hayom revealed a sharp security dispute between the Israeli army and the Shin Bet (the internal security service) regarding the fate of the militias formed by the occupation during the aggression on the Gaza Strip. The Shin Bet proposed transferring these members to closed camps within the Gaza envelope area as a temporary measure to “protect them and ensure security control over them.”
However, the army strongly rejected the proposal, justifying its position by stating that “the danger these elements may pose to the settlers outweighs any obligation to protect them,” especially after Israeli military intelligence detected signs that a number of militia members had fled after receiving promises of amnesty from the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas.
