Dozens of Palestinian prisoners arrive in Ramallah, and large crowds welcome them

Buses carrying dozens of Palestinian prisoners released from Ofer Prison arrived in Beitunia, Ramallah, in the central occupied West Bank, on Monday.

Before that, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Information Office reported that buses carrying released prisoners from Israeli jails had begun moving, in implementation of the prisoner exchange agreement with Israel, which began Monday morning.
Sources in the same context said that occupation forces fired smoke bombs at journalists near Ofer Prison.

Commenting on the release, the director of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Information Office told Al Jazeera that “the release of the prisoners and the cessation of the war in Gaza is a major national day,” adding that “a number of prisoners held in Israeli jails for decades will be released,” and that “the occupation attempts to evade its obligations under every agreement.”
