The Gaza Strip faces major challenges and numerous problems two years after the Israeli war. Those in charge of the Strip are trying to repair the damage caused by the Israeli machine of destruction, but they need aid, two Gaza government officials confirmed to Al Jazeera during its “Humanitarian Window from Gaza” segment.
In this context, Dr. Ismail Al-Thawabtah, Director General of the Government Media Office in Gaza, confirmed that the situation in the Gaza Strip remains catastrophic, with no tangible progress in the entry of aid so far.
He pointed out that 173 trucks entered last Sunday, including three cooking gas trucks and six fuel trucks. The remaining trucks carried basic food supplies, including secondary supplies.
Al-Thawabtah called on the Israeli occupation to expedite the opening of the crossings and allow the entry of 600 trucks of aid daily. He stressed the importance of bringing in food, medicine, and shelter, stating that 288,000 Palestinian families are homeless.
He pointed to the need for temporary tents and mobile homes until the reconstruction phase begins in the Gaza Strip. He called on the international community and guarantors to pressure the Israeli occupation to open the crossings and allow the entry of humanitarian aid to break Israel’s starvation policy, as well as medical supplies and everything else that supports the health system to restore what remains of it.
