The director of Umm Al-Rashrash Port admits to the catastrophic impacts of the Yemeni blockade on the port

“Gideon Golber,” the Director General of Umm Al-Rashrash “Eilat” Port, admitted that the Yemeni military operations in the Red Sea have caused severe damages that persist to this day, confirming that the commercial paralysis at the port is ongoing and that the situation is worse than what the government announces.

Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

In an interview with the Hebrew website Radio Eilat 102FM, Golber stated that the repercussions of the Yemeni strikes have led to an almost complete halt in import and export movements, adding that many ships have chosen to bypass the occupied territories entirely, causing a sharp decline in the economic activity of the port, which was once one of the most important commercial arteries for the Israelis on the Red Sea.

He indicated that the authorities are trying to portray the port as victorious by repeating limited operating scenes for media purposes, but he confirmed that the image of victory remains elusive, saying, “Before the war, Chinese ships used to arrive here regularly, and today no one comes. We need a real victory image by restoring navigation as it was, but that seems impossible currently.”

Golber added that economic pressures are increasing day by day and that the government lacks real solutions to save the port, which has been severely damaged since the start of the Al-Aqsa Flood operations in October 2023 and the subsequent precise Yemeni targeting of Israeli, British, and American ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

The port director concluded his remarks on a pessimistic note, saying, “The crisis is still ongoing, and there is no practical plan to end it,” referring to the failure of the occupation government to restore the confidence of international shipping companies or secure the sea lanes that have become subject to Yemeni deterrence control.
