Civil Defense in Gaza holds international bodies and the Israeli occupation responsible for victims of unexploded ordnance

The Civil Defense Authority in the Gaza Strip held international organizations operating in the Strip, along with the Israeli occupation and the US Coordination Center, fully responsible on Thursday for the lives lost by residents due to the explosion of unexploded ordnance left behind by the occupation.

In a press statement, the Civil Defense Authority explained that three incidents occurred today in different areas of the Gaza Strip as a result of explosions of unexploded ordnance. One of these explosions resulted in the death of a child, in addition to fires and material damage to homes and sites where the explosions took place.

He noted that, given the increasing number of these serious incidents in residential areas, the Civil Defense has held several meetings with representatives of relevant international organizations to develop a joint, systematic plan to address the legacy of the occupation and reduce the recurrence of such incidents.

He added that, despite these efforts, the Civil Defense is facing what he described as “unjustified procrastination and delays,” along with reluctance to communicate with the US Coordination Center and other relevant parties involved in addressing this danger. He emphasized that the numerous discussions held have yet to yield any tangible results.
