The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip confirmed on Saturday that 322 citizens remain missing and their fate unknown as a result of the Israeli aggression against the Strip, after thorough investigation and communication with relevant authorities.
Zaher al-Wahidi, Director of the Health Information Unit at the Ministry, explained in a statement on Saturday that the Ministry has launched an online portal for reporting missing persons. He noted that more than 3,000 reports have been received from Gaza residents inquiring about the fate of their loved ones.
Al-Wahidi indicated that the missing are classified according to several criteria, including those whose deaths have been confirmed but whose bodies remain under the rubble, those whose fate is unknown, and those whose bodies were taken by the Israeli occupation forces after their fate had been determined.
He also noted that some bodies have been returned by the Israeli occupation forces, but they remain unidentified.
Al-Wahidi estimated the number of bodies still under the rubble since the ceasefire began on October 10th at approximately 8,000, after only 700 bodies were recovered.
He confirmed that the Ministry of Health contacted the International Committee of the Red Cross to clarify the fate of the missing persons, but the occupation refused to disclose any information.
