The Director of Safety and Prevention at the Civil Defense Directorate in the Gaza Strip, Muhammad Sharir, confirmed on Monday that the Strip is currently devoid of safety and prevention equipment and supplies after they were destroyed by the Israeli enemy during the ongoing war on Gaza, which has lasted for more than two years.
In a press statement, Sharir warned of the dangers of fires in the commercial sector, which is struggling to recover after being devastated by the Israeli enemy during its ongoing war on Gaza.
He called for the urgent entry of safety and prevention equipment and supplies for businesses, industrial facilities, and commercial establishments into the Gaza Strip, which is besieged by the Israeli army.
He pointed out that owners of businesses and establishments, especially those with hazardous operations such as gas and fuel stations, are facing significant difficulties in acquiring safety equipment due to the enemy’s continued refusal to allow its entry into the Gaza Strip.
He emphasized that the already fragile commercial and industrial sector faces serious threats, particularly given the numerous large fires that have broken out in recent days in commercial warehouses containing food supplies. These fires resulted in the complete destruction of the contents, due to the owners’ inability to implement safety procedures and the limited capacity of the Civil Defense to respond to such large fires.
The Director of the Safety and Prevention Department called on the countries sponsoring the ceasefire agreement to pressure the Israeli enemy to allow the entry of safety equipment and supplies into the Gaza Strip.
