Sana’a calls on the UN to take practical and tangible steps to advance the peace path

The Sana’a government called on the UN to take practical and tangible steps to advance the peace path and build trust, while simultaneously renewing its categorical rejection of international pressures and statements issued by the Security Council and the UN Secretary-General regarding the organization’s staff detained in connection with the “espionage network” case.

Sana’a – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Sana’a, Abdul Wahid Abu Ras, affirmed during his meeting with the Director of the UN Envoy’s Office, Mohammed Al-Ghanam, that dealing with the detainees’ file is carried out in accordance with enforceable laws and judicial procedures that protect the country’s sovereignty and security. Abu Ras warned that continued external pressure would negatively affect the relationship with the international organization and undermine mutual trust-building efforts.

In a separate context, Abu Ras praised the efforts of the Special Envoy’s Office, Hans Grundberg, in the success of the recent prisoner exchange agreement, affirming Sana’a’s commitment to providing the necessary facilities for its implementation on the ground. For his part, Al-Ghanam reiterated the UN office’s commitment to continuing diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive political settlement in Yemen.
