US-British discrepancies regarding confrontations with the Houthis

Britain and the US exhibited political discrepancies on Tuesday regarding dealing with Yemen, coinciding with the failure to subjugate it militarily.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

While the US is conducting secret communications with Yemeni factions opposed to what it described as the Sana’a regime, British media reported uncertainty in London about this step.

Abdulrahman Al-Rashed, former director of the Al-Arabiya channel, revealed in his article that America has increased its contacts with Yemeni forces loyal to the Saudi-Emirati coalition in Yemen, indicating that they are currently considering a new plan to target Sana’a.

Al-Rashed admitted that the US is completely incapable of militarily stopping what he referred to as the “Houthis” and is afraid of the consequences of any ground escalation.

He also predicted America’s inclination towards a new war in Yemen.

Contrary to Al-Rashed’s statement, The Guardian newspaper revealed British concerns about the repercussions of supporting the factions loyal to the coalition. The newspaper quoted British officials as saying that the UK fears that the support would escalate the confrontations and the fall of the remaining areas in the hands of what they described as the “Houthis.”

These developments indicate new discrepancies within the US-British alliance, especially after US intelligence announced its lack of accurate information about Yemen’s military arsenal.
