This attack is part of a series of almost daily attacks targeting US and Western battleships stationed in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and extending to the Indian Ocean.

The timing of the recent attack indicates that it is part of a broad operation that extended from the Red Sea to the Indian Ocean, passing through the Gulf of Aden. It comes just days after Yemen announced the entry into the fourth phase of military escalation, which targets ships associated with the occupation in the Mediterranean Sea.
