From missiles to aircraft, and finally boats… what is Yemen preparing for the new phase of escalation
Within approximately 48 hours, Yemen has revealed new developments in its military capabilities for maritime operations against the Israeli occupation and its allies. What are the implications of this announcement, and what does Yemen have in store?
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
Hours after the Yemeni forces’ war media officially unveiled the new hypersonic missile in a video clip showing the Yemeni forces at the peak of their power, military leaders, including Brigadier General Abdullah Amer, Deputy Director of the Moral Guidance Department in Sana’a, came forward to discuss similar developments in the field of the drone weapon. Today, the leader of the Ansar Allah movement, Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, dedicated part of his weekly speech to talk about the “Tawfan Boat” and the extent of its impact on targeted ships.
This extensive discussion about Yemen’s significant advancements in its military capabilities is not merely a media consumption; it comes days after testing these technologies in operations that demonstrated their effectiveness. The unmanned boat “Tawfan” successfully sank at least one ship and hindered others in its first trial this month, whether in the Red Sea or the Gulf of Aden. Meanwhile, the rocket “Hatem” caught the attention of the world in Washington, Paris, Berlin, and other Western capitals, fulfilling its primary mission by effectively targeting an Israeli ship about 420 kilometers off the eastern coast of Yemen in a sensitive and vital navigation area for the occupation and its allies, amid the closure of the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait. Simultaneously, the unmanned aerial vehicles cruised over the sea on their way to their targets in the occupation’s ports on the Mediterranean Sea.
These integrated capabilities of air and naval weapons that Yemen seeks to showcase against its adversaries in the region, particularly the major powers supporting the occupation, and the timing of their disclosure convey numerous messages on both the regional and international levels. One of the key messages is that Yemen is ready to enter a new phase of escalation, especially if these displays are linked to moves to expand the scope of the war in Lebanon.
In last November, Yemen entered with its air and naval systems to support Gaza, and today it is preparing even more extensively to confront threats targeting another country resisting the Zionist-American occupation and hegemony. The results will undoubtedly be shocking for the occupation and its allies. Just as it succeeded in banning Israeli, American, and British navigation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, it is now laying the groundwork for replicating the scenario not only in the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean but also in the heart of the occupation and its centers of influence in the Mediterranean.
