A report reveals the bankruptcy of “Eilat Port” following operations by the Yemeni armed forces in support of Gaza

“WorldCargo,” a website specializing in global shipping news, revealed in a report published today, Friday, that the port of Eilat, south of the occupied Palestinian territories, has declared bankruptcy due to a lack of commercial activity, following the decision of the Yemeni armed forces supporting Gaza.

Sana’a – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The report disclosed that the CEO of the port, Gedone Gilbert, stated to the Knesset’s Economic Affairs Committee on July 7th that the port had witnessed no activity or revenues for eight months, despite a slight increase in the fourth quarter of 2022.

The report affirmed the impact of the military attacks by the Yemeni Armed Forces, which significantly affected Israeli trade since their announcement of support for Gaza and banning the passage of ships towards occupied ports.

The economic impact of the Yemeni Armed Forces’ operations on shipping in the Red Sea led to an 85% decrease in shipping volumes, prompting the port to seek financial assistance from the occupying Israeli government.
