The truth about suspending bank transfer decisions and Sana’a’s stance
News has been circulating by officials in the government loyal to the coalition regarding the suspension of measures targeting private banks, which were previously announced by the Yemeni Central Bank in Aden under American sponsorship and Saudi support, as a step to try to exert pressure on Sana’a to halt its supportive operations for Gaza.
Sana’a – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The authority loyal to the coalition leaked a letter in the name of the UN envoy to the head of the Presidential Council appointed by the coalition, Rashad Al-Alimi, asking him to suspend the decisions targeting banks. While multiple officials in this government have spoken about the commencement of this suspension, the news agency affiliated with Al-Alimi’s authority published news about an emergency meeting held on Friday, an official holiday, to discuss what it said was the UN request.
The agency did not clarify whether the decisions were suspended, but officials in it announced that they had already been suspended. As for the UN envoy’s message, it was an attempt by Saudi Arabia to avoid appearing as if it succumbed to the threats from Sana’a. Nevertheless, it represented a new insult to the authority loyal to the coalition and confirmed that it was robbed of decision and will.
Despite that, officials in Sana’a affirm that they deal with reality, not with statements and news, and that the demands go beyond the decision to freeze the transfer of private banks. Sana’a Airport is still closed by the coalition, and Saudi Arabia has frozen the roadmap, which was supposed to address the humanitarian situation.
The Minister of Information in the caretaker government in Sana’a, in a post on the X platform commenting on the letter attributed to the UN envoy, said: “We will not be deceived…!! Neither the yellow nor the blond nor their agents. The ceiling of freedom, dignity, and living with honor knows no bounds for us, neither for postponement nor for interpretation. The sword of our leader has been drawn from its sheath, and it will not return except with what pleases Allah and satisfies these proud and brave masses, and it will triumph for the injustice of Gaza and its people.”
As for the Sana’a forces, they are responsible for translating the warnings of the Ansar Allah leader, as the Sana’a forces included Saudi Arabia in a statement on Friday evening, confirming its readiness to implement the popular demands in a legitimate response to the Saudi hostile moves against the Yemeni people.
Yemen witnessed the largest mass gathering in around 260 squares, most notably the Al-Sabeen Square in the capital Sana’a, under the title “We are Steadfast with Gaza… We Will Confront America and Whoever Allies with It.” This came hours after the call by the Ansar Allah leader, Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, to demonstrate in order to confirm the stance with Gaza, send messages to Saudi Arabia, and affirm the popular alignment with the warnings directed at Saudi Arabia.
