UNRWA warns of unprecedented humanitarian disaster due to Israeli massacres and siege on northern Gaza for 3 weeks
Gaza – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The media officer at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), Enas Hamdan, stated that the Israeli occupation has rejected an urgent request from the agency to evacuate those trapped under the rubble in northern Gaza.
She added: “Over the past two weeks, we have repeatedly warned that tightening the siege on Jabalia and (the province of) northern Gaza worsens the situation catastrophically, and the ongoing Israeli military operations in northern Gaza endanger tens of thousands of civilians.”
Enas continued, “Furthermore, the military assault in northern Gaza is cutting off people’s access to the necessities needed for their survival, including water.”
She demanded the Israeli occupation “humanitarian teams and rescue teams be allowed to reach the sick, wounded, and besieged without delay, because every minute of delay exacerbates the disaster.”
CNN quoted the Deputy Director of UNRWA Affairs in Gaza as saying, “Israeli army attacks over 5 days targeted 3 of our facilities.”
The Deputy Director pointed out that the situation in northern Gaza exceeds anything we have seen since the beginning of the war, explaining that “100,000 residents of Jabalia have been besieged without supplies for 3 weeks.”
