Euro-Med: 39 raids on shelters in northern Gaza in less than a month

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor said that the Israeli occupation army raided 39 times on shelters for displaced people in less than a month in the northern Gaza Strip, with the aim of displacing Palestinian civilians and emptying the northern Gaza Strip of its inhabitants.

The Euro-Med Monitor confirmed in a statement that its cadres in Gaza documented the martyrdom of 188 Palestinians and the injury of hundreds of others as a result of the occupation army’s targeting of shelters during the mentioned period, in a dangerous escalation of crimes targeting civilian gathering places.

The Observatory indicated that the occupation army raided schools, hospitals, clinics and halls used for shelter 65 times since the beginning of last August, 39 of them during the month of October, during which 672 Palestinians were killed and more than a thousand were injured, in the northern Gaza Strip.

About 57 of these targets were sites in the northern Gaza Strip and Gaza City, while 8 were in the central Gaza Strip, he said.

The Observatory pointed out that these targets include shelling, shooting, killing displaced people and their families directly, or forcing them to forcibly evacuate schools under fire or under displacement orders, and then burning or destroying these schools to make them uninhabitable.

He stressed that Israel’s systematic policy of destroying shelters further narrows down on the options available to civilians in terms of where to resort to achieve Israel’s goals of destroying and forcibly displacing Palestinians.
