The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip warned on Thursday of “serious repercussions” that threaten the lives of patients and wounded due to the lack of oxygen in hospitals, as a result of Israel’s destruction of 10 central generating stations during the genocidal war. Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Health Bassam al-Hammadin said in a statement: “Gaza’s hospitals are facing very difficult humanitarian conditions in light of the systematic destruction of the health system, especially oxygen generating stations, which are the lungs from which hospitals breathe.” He added: “We warn of the serious repercussions of the shortage of oxygen, because of its paramount importance in saving the lives of the sick and injured.” “Conditions have become more difficult with the return of displaced people from the south to the north of the Gaza Strip, which has exacerbated the pressure on hospitals and health facilities in the Strip,” al-Hammadin said. He called for “urgent intervention from UN and international institutions to pressure the occupation to allow access to oxygen stations and ensure the sustainability of the provision of oxygen to health facilities.”
