The West Bank is a prison without walls and repression without borders

A report published by the Italian website “Left” confirmed that the West Bank is witnessing a dangerous escalation by the Israeli occupation, as it has turned into an open prison with the spread of hundreds of military checkpoints, and the launching of large-scale operations in Jenin, Hebron and Tulkarm, with the support of the administration of US President Donald Trump.

The writer Federica Stagni said in his report that everyone wondered why Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accepted in mid-January 2025 an agreement that does not differ fundamentally from the one proposed by former US President Joe Biden in May 2024.
The writer added that Trump may have offered Netanyahu a plan that included the gradual annexation of the West Bank, along with a promise to carry out ethnic cleansing in the Gaza Strip, in order to sign the agreement.

He continued that starting the next day, reports began to come in of mass arrests in Bethlehem and Hebron, in addition to large-scale military operations in Jenin, which is located in Area A, where, according to the Oslo Accords, the Israeli army is not supposed to have any influence or authority.

The writer Federica Stani pointed out that to this day, there are hundreds of military checkpoints in the West Bank, which deprive Palestinians living in these areas of freedom of movement to work, receive medical treatment, or go to school.
