UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said in a statement on Platform X that the vast majority of people in Gaza depend on aid for their survival, adding that water is life-saving, hospitals and health centres, electricity is essential, in addition to basic food assistance.

The UN agency’s commissioner-general stressed that essential aid and services “are non-negotiable and should never be used as a weapon of war,” calling for the continued flow of humanitarian aid in a similar manner to the past six weeks.

The Agency noted that the needs in the Gaza Strip are enormous, and there is a need for continued assistance, and urged continued global solidarity, so that the people of Gaza can receive the support they need to rebuild their lives, noting that it is time for the international community to renew its commitment to finding a just political solution, as it is the only way to achieve peace.
