UNRWA: The decision to stop assistance to Gaza threatens the lives of civilians
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) stated that the occupation’s decision to stop assistance to Gaza threatens the lives of civilians who have been exhausted by the 16-month war.
Gaza – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said in a statement on the “X” platform that the vast majority of people in Gaza depend on aid for their survival, adding that water is life-saving and hospitals, health centers, and electricity are essential, in addition to basic food aid.
The UN agency’s Commissioner-General stressed that aid and basic services “are not negotiable and should never be used as a weapon of war,” calling for the continued flow of humanitarian aid similar to the past six weeks.
The agency explained that the needs in the Gaza Strip are immense, and there is a need for continuous assistance, and called for the continuation of global solidarity so that the people of Gaza can obtain the support they need to rebuild their lives, noting that the time has come to renew the international community’s commitment to finding a just political solution, as it is the only way to achieve peace.
The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is deteriorating further with the cessation of the entry of food, medical, and fuel aid into the Strip due to the continued closure of the Karam Abu Salem commercial crossing by the occupation for the fourth day.
