Gaza: Human Rights Office expresses alarm at deadly violence at food distribution sites

UN agencies have warned of deadly violence at food distribution points, where more than 400 Palestinians have reportedly been killed in recent weeks while trying to access humanitarian aid.

The UN human rights office in the occupied Palestinian territory called on the Israeli military on Wednesday to cease the use of “lethal force” near aid convoys and food distribution sites. The office cited “repeated incidents” of Palestinians being shot or shelled as they sought food, warning that such attacks could constitute war crimes under international law.

“We are horrified by the repeated incidents we have been hearing from across Gaza in recent days and call for an immediate end to these senseless killings,” the office said in a statement.
