The Ministry of Health in Gaza warned on Saturday that the fuel shortage crisis needed to operate generators in the Strip’s hospitals has reached unprecedented levels.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that without urgent fuel shipments to Gaza, the complete disruption of essential services will lead to further suffering, describing it as collective punishment. In a press release on Facebook on Saturday, the Ministry of Health said that the crisis is exacerbating the severe strain on the health system and the remaining functioning hospitals. It noted that the increasing pressure from critical injuries increases the need to ensure the continued operation of generators to operate vital departments. It stated that the Israeli occupation is deliberately preventing the entry of fuel quantities that would allow additional time for hospitals to operate, explaining that the continuation of temporary and emergency solutions means waiting for the shutdown of life-saving departments.
