The mayor of Gaza, Yahya Al-Sarraj, said that the failure of the mechanisms to enter so far hinders the work of municipalities in various regions of the Gaza Strip, stressing that the absence of the necessary equipment limits the ability of the municipalities to carry out their basic service tasks.
Al-Sarraj explained, in press statements, on Sunday, that the municipalities need 250 vehicles at the current stage to enhance their work in the sector, noting that the continued shortage of equipment exacerbates the living conditions and delays rehabilitation efforts.
He added that the Gaza Strip needs 1,000 tons of cement to build wells and maintain the water network, pointing out that the current infrastructure is insufficient, whether in municipalities or in health facilities within the Strip.
Al-Sarraj indicated that the municipalities will start operating around the clock immediately after entering the equipment, with the aim of improving public services and repairing the damaged basic networks and facilities.
He stressed that the work of the municipalities continues despite all the challenges, but they are partial and limited according to the capabilities available under the current circumstances.
