Bill, the Guardian: Israel wiped out £4,000 in Gaza in one moment

Of the thousands of bombs that have fallen—and continue to fall—on Gaza, one in particular remains etched in Navi Pillay’s memory: a shell fired by Israeli occupation forces at the Al-Basma fertility clinic in December 2023. A single strike “instantly wiped out 4,000 fetuses” at the clinic.

This was stated by Navi Pillay, the former head of the UN Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Israel, in an interview with the British newspaper The Guardian, where she explained that the strike was “deliberately intended to prevent births among Palestinians in Gaza.”

Pillay added, in her speech, that the clinic was located in a building separate from the rest of the medical complex’s hospitals, and the hospital was not targeted, despite the constant pretext that the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) hides in hospitals.

She said the Israeli army went directly to the building housing the fetuses and targeted the nitrogen tanks that were preserving them alive.

Pillay cites this incident not as an isolated one, but as one example among a “large number of incidents” that led her commission to conclude that Israel committed genocide in Gaza.
