Widespread international mobilization on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People
Several Arab and European capitals witnessed significant popular and diplomatic activity on Saturday, marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, observed annually on November 29th. This comes amidst escalating international outrage over the two-year-long war of annihilation in the Gaza Strip.
The world has commemorated this day since its adoption by the United Nations in 1977 as an international platform to demonstrate support for Palestinian rights, foremost among them the right to self-determination, national independence and sovereignty, and the return of refugees to their homes from which they were displaced in 1948.
The Palestinian cause has gained prominence in Europe over the past two years, particularly in Spain and Italy, where public pressure has intensified on governments to take a clearer stance against Israeli violations.
In Barcelona, a large demonstration took place, with participants carrying banners affirming that the war of annihilation in Gaza “is not yet over,” and that the ceasefire has not achieved the necessary justice. They called for more decisive measures to hold the occupation accountable and uphold Palestinian rights.
In Britain, solidarity movements continued to mobilize their supporters despite official attempts at suppression and containment, affirming their continued commitment to raising their just demands for justice for the Palestinian people.
