The official explained that relying on mediators or exerting pressure on Washington to reach a permanent agreement is no longer realistic under current circumstances.
He added that Iran has set a deadline of no more than a few weeks for the US to fully implement the memorandum of understanding, warning that Tehran “will not wait for America to continue the naval blockade indefinitely.”
Regarding diplomatic communications, the official indicated that Iran would inform the US and regional countries of the timeframe it has officially set through mediators, amid continued disagreements over the implementation of the understanding and de-escalation terms.
The Iranian official’s statement comes a day after the Iranian General Staff and the new Iranian Army Commander, Major General Amir Hatami, confirmed that their country “has practically begun implementing the decision to expel American forces,” stressing that “American forces are no longer permitted to enter the Gulf, the Sea of Oman, and the Strait of Hormuz.”
