The United Nations announced that it documented approximately 757 attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians and their property in the West Bank in the first half of this year.
The spokesman for UN Secretary-General António Guterres confirmed that settlers are launching brutal attacks against Palestinians, and that the first half of this year witnessed 757 attacks carried out by settlers in the West Bank.
For his part, Mu’ayyad Shaaban, head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, stated that Israeli occupation forces and settlers have carried out 158 attacks on olive harvesters in various West Bank governorates since the beginning of the current season, in early October.
Shaaban noted in a statement that the commission’s teams documented 17 attacks by the occupation army, in addition to 141 attacks carried out by settlers. These attacks ranged from direct physical assaults to arrests, movement restrictions, denial of access to farms, and gunfire, as occurred in the Tubas Governorate.
He pointed out that the Nablus Governorate recorded the largest number of attacks, with 56 cases, followed by Ramallah with 51 cases, and Hebron with 15 cases.
Shaaban explained that the Commission documented 57 cases of movement restrictions and intimidation of olive pickers, in addition to 22 cases of physical assault on farmers, reflecting a significant escalation in the targeting of this vital agricultural season. He noted that 74 attacks on lands planted with olive trees were monitored, including 29 incidents of cutting, breaking, and bulldozing, resulting in the destruction of approximately 795 olive trees across the West Bank.
