Sana’a Renews from Tehran Its Stance on a Condition for De-escalation with Saudi Arabia and Hints at the War Option
Sana’a renewed on Sunday its affirmation of rejecting the continuation of the state of neither war nor peace in its relationship with Saudi Arabia. This coincides with Saudi attempts to push regional mediations for de-escalation amid the escalating pace of confrontation.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The Yemeni Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security Affairs, Jalal Al-Rawishan, stated in remarks broadcast by the official Yemen TV that Sana’a prefers a return to war over remaining in the current situation, affirming that it possesses sufficient means to lift the Saudi siege on Yemen.
Al-Rawishan affirmed Sana’a’s insistence on the complete lifting of the siege on Yemeni ports and airports.
Al-Rawishan had earlier met with the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, on the sidelines of his participation in the farewell ceremonies for the Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. Iranian media reported that Araghchi affirmed during the meeting Iran’s readiness to exert all diplomatic efforts to lift the siege on Yemen, activate the roadmap, and reach a comprehensive political solution.
The Yemeni official’s statements indicate that Sana’a’s option for confrontation is irreversible unless Saudi Arabia makes a concession regarding the lifting of the siege.
Saudi Arabia has imposed a land, sea, and air siege on Yemen for years, despite the truce agreement that stopped confrontations between the two countries.
