There is no safe place in Gaza

There is no longer anything that can be described as a “safe place” in the Gaza Strip. After nearly three years of a comprehensive war of genocide, the Israeli occupation forces continue to shift the killing field from one location to another, disregarding the civilian nature of their targets, whether they are sipping coffee in a seaside café, sleeping in a displacement tent after fleeing previous bombings, or riding a motorcycle near an aid distribution point.

Four Israeli attacks, documented in a human rights report, occurred in just four days, between August 15 and 18, resulting in the deaths of nine Palestinians and injuries to more than twenty others. This recurring pattern reveals that civilians in Gaza now face death wherever they go: in their homes, in their shelters, and on the streets they traverse in search of food or sustenance.

In the latest and deadliest of these attacks, Israeli occupation forces killed seven Palestinians and wounded 15 others on Tuesday evening in a drone strike on the “Al-Hilwa wal-Murra” café, crowded with civilians in western Gaza City. This attack is one of the deadliest in recent weeks.

According to a statement by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, the attack reflects the continued targeting of civilians by the occupation forces in their places of displacement and gathering, depriving them of any place that could provide them with security or stability. Killing, wounding, and terror have become commonplace for Palestinians in their homes, shelters, displacement camps, and public spaces alike.
