US confession: Mason’s hit in the Red Sea
The US confirmed on Thursday that its third battleship was targeted in the Red Sea.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
Reuters quoted officials from the US Central Command as saying that the destroyer Mason was struck by a ballistic missile.
The US command limited its statement to mentioning that no casualties were reported among the crew.
Earlier on Wednesday, Yemeni forces announced the targeting of the American battleship with a ballistic missile, achieving an accurate hit.
The US command did not publish any information about the attack on its official social media pages, despite mentioning clashes in the Red Sea involving drones. This indicates a state of American confusion caused by the targeting of the new battleship and confirms the account of its being hit.
“Mason” is the third American battleship to be injured in the ongoing Yemeni operations since last November and the confrontations against US forces in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden since January. Previously, the US forces had withdrawn the aircraft carrier stationed in Bab Al-Mandeb, “Eisenhower,” as well as the destroyer “USS Carney.”
These escalating operations at a high pace recently indicate Yemen’s development in its strategy of targeting battleships as it prepares to execute new stages of escalation, including the Mediterranean and the Indian Ocean.
