Russian call to cancel the classification “Houthis” and a French-Chinese call for peace… The Red Sea nightmare looms over the UN Security Council session

Fears of the return of Yemeni operations in the Red Sea dominated the Security Council session on Yemen on Thursday.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

While the U.S. representative in her speech carried more escalation through the threat of measures in the event that Sana’a resumes operations against the Israeli occupation, major powers tried to call for calm.

The U.S. representative also tried to justify her country’s escalation against Yemen in general, sometimes claiming that those she described as “Houthis” control the commercial and banking sectors, and at other times that they do not support the Palestinian cause.

Contrary to the American narrative, Russia, through its representative, presented a different vision, calling on the US to cancel its decision to designate the Ansar Allah movement as a terrorist organization, considering the step complicates the humanitarian and economic situation in the country, which is suffering from collapse.

The Russian representative considered making efforts to achieve a comprehensive and integrated political process the best choice, describing the American decision as “disappointing.”

As for the French representative, she called on the Yemeni parties to prepare for a peace process, while the Chinese representative stressed the need to maintain the situation in the Red Sea, which he described as the best currently, and expressed his concern about the deterioration of the situation in Yemen.

The UN Security Council had earlier today held a session, which is the first since the American decision to escalate against Yemen.

The international positions reflect the extent of the rejection of the steps of the American escalation and the fear of its consequences.
