Israeli occupation authorities intend to forcibly transfer Palestinian patients from the Gaza Strip, who are receiving treatment in hospitals in occupied Jerusalem, along with their companions and children born in the city, to an undisclosed location on Monday, according to Palestinian reports on Sunday.
The decision includes patients from Al-Makassed Hospital, Al-Mutla’ Hospital, and the hotels where they are staying. The transfer is scheduled to take place at 5:00 AM, using buses escorted by military vehicles, the sources said.
Sources expressed serious concerns about patient safety and the conditions of transport, calling on human rights organizations, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and relevant Palestinian government bodies to follow up on the matter immediately and ensure the protection of patients, children, and their companions from any potential risks.
At least 89 patients from Gaza, along with their companions, face the risk of forced deportation, according to their families and medical teams. Some indicate that certain patients may be forced to return to the devastated Gaza Strip, where, according to World Health Organization data, 94% of its hospitals have been damaged or destroyed.
Many of these patients had been evacuated before the start of the genocidal war on Gaza two years ago, and most had agreed to return voluntarily, while some are feared to be forcibly sent back.
The World Health Organization reported that the Israeli army had requested its assistance in facilitating the transfer of patients early next week, amid concerns about their safety and the conditions of transport. The WHO warned that any delay in treating critical cases is tantamount to a death sentence.
