Houthis Determine Conditions for Political Solution
Mohammad Ali al-Houthi, Member of the Supreme Political Council (SPC), the highest ruling authority in Sana’a, said on Tuesday that Sana’a government supported efforts to lift restrictions on Sana’a-run outlets and comprehensive ceasefire.
“We announce our position to support lifting the siege and ceasefire in all its forms,” Al-Houthi said on Twitter.
This coincides with the arrival of UN envoy Martin Griffiths in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to consult with Yemeni and Saudi officials, seeking a plan to ease restrictions on Sanaa International Airport and the Sanaa-run port of Hodeidah, achieve a ceasefire and resume the political process between the parties to the conflict, according to media reports.
“The special envoy is expected to meet in the next few days with senior Yemeni officials as well as Saudi officials and diplomats,” Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General said in a press briefing published on his website.
