Gaza hospitals on the verge of disaster due to severe oxygen shortage

Gaza – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza warned today of an imminent disaster threatening the lives of patients in the Strip due to the severe shortage of oxygen supplies to hospitals.

The ministry explained in a press statement that this severe shortage is a result of the destruction and burning of the central oxygen stations in several major hospitals, including the Shifa Medical Complex, the Al-Nasr Complex, Al-Rantisi Hospital, Al-Durra, and the Indonesian, in addition to the Sheikh Radwan Clinic station.

The ministry pointed out that the number of destroyed stations is 10, and these stations were meeting the needs of vital hospital departments, such as operating rooms, intensive care units, emergency departments, and neonatal incubators, in addition to providing oxygen to patients at home.

The ministry confirmed that several non-governmental hospitals supporting their efforts in providing health services are also facing difficulties in meeting their oxygen needs.

It also noted that the occupation’s prevention of the entry of oxygen stations to the Strip’s hospitals will exacerbate the crisis and put the lives of patients at imminent risk.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health renewed its appeal to international institutions and concerned parties to take urgent action to provide and introduce the necessary oxygen stations to save the lives of patients in the Gaza Strip.
