Civil society organizations in the Gaza Strip denied the announcements made by the European Union Representative to Palestine, Alexander Stutzmann, regarding the opening of the crossings and the entry of aid and goods into the Gaza Strip, stressing that these statements “do not reflect the reality on the ground.”
In a joint statement issued Monday, the organizations called on Stutzmann to review his statements and verify the accuracy of the information through a field visit to the Gaza Strip crossings.
They emphasized that the Israeli occupation continues to delay the entry of aid, “as its authorities allow a very limited number of trucks to enter, and on an irregular basis.”
They noted that “the state of famine continues to rage in the Gaza Strip, with casualties recorded, particularly among the most vulnerable groups: patients, children, and women, particularly pregnant and breastfeeding women.”
They emphasized that what is required of the European Union is “real pressure on the occupation to fulfill its pledges, away from the language of false promises.”
She warned that any position or statement that contradicts reality “constitutes a form of cover-up for the crime of starvation affecting approximately two and a half million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.”
