The ship “Hanzala”: A new attempt to break the siege on the Gaza Strip
Yesterday, the ship “Hanzala” set sail from the Italian port of Syracuse in a new attempt to break the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip. Bloggers said this was not just a sea voyage but a resounding message from international activists who came from different continents to tell the world, “Gaza is not alone.”
Follow ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The International Committee to Break the Gaza Siege reported that the ship bearing the name of the famous Palestinian icon “Hanzala” set sail amid changeable winds, forcing it to return to the dock for a moment before defying the waves and setting out to the high seas, in a scene that seemed like a “symbol of defiance and dignity.”
The International Committee to Break the Siege described the ship’s departure in a statement posted on its “Facebook” page, saying, “The captain was leading it with amazing skill, with a will that knew no brokenness.”
The committee said this voyage is not the first and will not be the last. “Hanzala” is following a path that was preceded by ships like “Al-Dameer” and “Madeleine” and is heading towards a larger wave of solidarity this year, despite the piracy, confiscation, and arrests that these convoys are exposed to.
They continued by saying, But the message is clear: Neither repression frightens us, nor arrest stops us; as long as there is a siege, there is resistance, and humanity moves.
The committee called on all supportive movements, initiatives, and institutions for the Palestinian cause to unite their efforts and increase their pressure on the occupation and its allies, noting that the goal is not only to break the naval blockade but also to pave the way for ending the occupation, which it describes as “the root of the tragedy in the region.”
It added, but it returned to confirm that “Hanzala” is not just a boat but a “cry of global conscience in the face of normalization with the siege.” The voyage, which may seem small in a vast sea, carries within it a humanitarian call that transcends politics and official rhetoric and expresses a conviction that solidarity is not a luxury or an option but a moral responsibility.
The committee saluted the steadfastness of the people of Gaza in the face of the ongoing aggression, stressing the need to follow up on the ship’s course moment by moment to ensure the safety of the activists and protect the message they are sailing with.
The committee concluded its message by saying, “We will not leave Gaza alone,” leaving behind an echo that the world cannot ignore.
