Gaza Civil Defense warns of a complete stoppage of its vehicles

The General Directorate of Civil Defense warned of a complete halt to its humanitarian interventions in the Gaza Strip, with the scarce fuel available for its missions running out.

In a statement, the Directorate addressed the United Nations, its Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), and international humanitarian organizations, stating that its crews would be unable to reach and respond to the incidents until the end of this month unless the necessary fuel and spare parts for the continuation of its service operations were delivered.

The Directorate noted a relative increase in accidents, particularly fires, both resulting from Israeli shelling and those caused by citizens’ use of alternative cooking gas. This has created a burden and increased fuel consumption amid soaring temperatures.

The Directorate emphasized that the occupation authorities continue to refuse the entry of spare parts needed to repair Civil Defense vehicles, which has led to multiple crises.

It emphasized the need for urgent intervention to pressure the Israeli occupation authorities to allow the entry of fuel and spare parts for the vehicles to continue humanitarian interventions.
