Gaza Mayor: Most of those missing under the rubble are women and children

Gaza Mayor Yahya al-Sarraj said on Monday that the majority of those missing under the rubble of the destruction in the Strip are children and women, and that rescue teams are facing significant difficulties in reaching them due to a lack of heavy equipment.

He explained in a statement reported by the media that the municipality urgently needs heavy equipment and machinery to retrieve the missing, in addition to repairing the water and sewage networks damaged by the bombing.

Al-Sarraj emphasized that the municipality needs all possible equipment to locate and retrieve those missing under the rubble, emphasizing that the humanitarian situation in Gaza is worsening as local resources continue to be unable to meet the scale of the disaster.

Since October 7, 2023, the occupying forces—with American and European support—have committed genocide in the Gaza Strip, including killing, starvation, destruction, displacement, and arrest, ignoring international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt the operation.
