Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor: US cover enables Israel to continue its genocide and deepen the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor confirmed on Sunday that the United States provides political cover enabling Israel to perpetuate the status quo in the Gaza Strip and continue what it described as genocide against the civilian population.

In a press release, the Monitor explained that US support for Israel, and its linking of progress on a ceasefire to the recovery of the last body from the Gaza Strip, constitutes “a shameful complicity in the continued violations of the ceasefire, the siege of civilians, their displacement, and the destruction of what remains of their homes.”

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor called on the international community to establish an independent mechanism to verify the opening of crossings and ensure the urgent and unconditional flow of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, calling on the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing to take immediate action and pressure Israel to allow the entry of temporary housing and rubble removal equipment.
