British Summons to STC to Complicate Riyadh and Sana’a Negotiations
Britain mobilized on Monday, the pro-UAE Southern Transitional Council (STC), in southern Yemen, in the file of Riyadh and Sana’a negotiations.
Exclusive-Alkhabar alyemeni:
This comes in the wake of the agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia, which indicates London’s attempt to search for cards to confront any rapprochement between the countries of the region.
British media devoted a lot of space to the Transitional Council, trying to market it as a force on the ground and a major actor in Yemen.
The Guardian newspaper quoted on a leader in the Transitional Council as confirming that the council did not adhere to any agreements between Riyadh and Sana’a.
Amr Al-Beidh, foreign affairs representative of the transitional head, Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, indicated that the council supports any agreement between Riyadh and those he described as “Houthis” on border security and confidence-building files. Pointing out that the Council will not abide by any other agreements regarding the status of Yemen.
Al-Beidh did not hide his fears that the recent agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran would lead to the exclusion of the rest of the pro-coalition forces, including the Presidential Council and strengthening the grip of what he describes as “Houthis.”
Summoning Al-Beidh came in the wake of reports that Saudi Arabia had thwarted a British-American attempt to circumvent the Saudi-Yemeni negotiations by moving new cards by waging war against STC and effectively neutralizing it.
Although STC is no longer a force on the ground as Britain is trying to portray it, especially in the wake of its dismantling militarily, economically and politically by Riyadh recently.
However, his summoning by Britain is an attempt to maneuver him as a card, in overtime in the face of Riyadh, which is throwing all its weight to get out from the war quagmire of Yemen.
