The Euro-Mediterranean Observatory: Destroying West Bank camps and displacing their residents are war crimes that pave the way for annexing the region
Occupied Palestine – Al-Khabar A-Yemeni:
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor affirmed that the Israeli occupation’s destruction of refugee camps in the West Bank and the displacement of their residents constitute “a dangerous chapter in the ongoing Nakba (catastrophe),” warning that these operations fall within “war crimes and crimes against humanity that are fully constituted.”
The observatory pointed out that the declaration of the occupation’s Minister of Army of his intention to expel about 40,000 Palestinian refugees from these camps, while destroying the means of life there, is an attempt to impose a new reality that hinders their future return, whether in the short or long term.
It also noted that the deployment of the occupation’s tanks and heavy military vehicles in these areas is not related to any security or military necessity but rather aims to strengthen military control and impose new facts on the ground, which could be a step towards annexing the West Bank and eliminating the role of the Palestinian Authority in these areas.
The observatory emphasized that the occupation’s impunity over the past decades and the international silence towards the genocide crimes in the Gaza Strip are what encouraged it to escalate and expand its aggression to include northern West Bank.
The observatory called on the international community to take concrete steps to pressure “Israel” to end its military operation, ensure the return of the displaced residents, and stop the policies of destruction and forced displacement that aim to eliminate the Palestinian presence in the West Bank.
