People are falling in the streets, and the UN refuses to declare famine in Gaza

While children and adults are dying in the streets and hospitals of Gaza due to the systematic starvation practiced against them by Israel with American support, UN agencies refuse to officially declare famine in the Strip.

Earlier on Saturday, three-month-old Palestinian baby Yahya al-Najjar died of malnutrition, while the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said it had disturbing reports of children and adults suffering from starvation in hospitals.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) also appealed to the world to help it save more than two million people, including one million children, who are at risk of starvation in the Strip. It stated that it has enough food stocks to feed the entire population for three months, but is unable to deliver them. According to an information report, the criteria for officially declaring famine in any region of the world have been met in Gaza for some time. These criteria include 20% of the population facing severe levels of hunger, and 30% of children documented to be suffering from severe emaciation and wasting. The Government Information Center in the Gaza Strip indicates that 650,000 children (out of a population of 2.4 million living in the Strip) are at risk of death due to malnutrition and hunger, while approximately 60,000 pregnant women face a real risk due to lack of food and necessary healthcare. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) also announced that 112 children in Gaza are hospitalized daily for treatment of malnutrition and severe emaciation, in addition to 620 deaths due to hunger, 70 of whom have died since last June.
