WHO: 15,000 in Gaza Strip need medical evacuation

The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, announced that more than 15,600 people in Gaza, including 3,800 children, are in need of medical evacuation for special care.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip praised the UN’s decision to declare famine in Gaza, “albeit belated.”

In a post on the X platform on Saturday, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus addressed the situation in the Gaza Strip, which is being subjected to an ongoing Israeli war of extermination and starvation.

He wrote, “More than 15,600 patients, including 3,800 children, still need special care.”

The Director-General of the World Health Organization called for increased evacuations from Gaza and facilitating the delivery of life-saving aid and care, reiterating his call for a ceasefire in Gaza.

In a parallel context, the Ministry of Health in Gaza said that the UN’s declaration of famine in the Gaza Strip, even if it was “belated,” confirms the reality of the starvation policy being implemented by Israel. Israel, which has been waging a genocidal war against the Palestinians for nearly 23 months, has warned of the death of thousands of starving people.
