The British newspaper the Economist quoted on well-informed sources as saying that the negotiations are ending. It explained that Saudi Arabia is looking through negotiations for a deal to stop the attacks by drones and ballistic missiles.
The newspaper expected that the agreement, which it said would give those it described as “Houthis” more gains in Mecca, would be signed near the holy month of Ramadan.
The file of the Yemeni-Saudi negotiations witnessed, during the last hours, intensive international movements to pressure towards extending the cease-fire.
The Russian President’s envoy to the Middle East joined Muscat table, where he met with the head of Sana’a delegation there, Muhammad Abd al-Salam, and discussed with him developments in the Yemeni arena.
The Russians’ joining came at the request of Saudi Arabia through the international envoy to Yemen, Hans Grodenberg, who visited Moscow last week with the escalation of threats to return to military operations.
These moves reflect Saudi Arabia’s fears of a return to war, especially after the leader of Anssarallah movement, “Houthis,” Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, threatened not to waste more time in negotiations.
